Abstract

A review of the modern technology for flash smelting copper concentrates and introduction of 240 references on copper extraction. Considered in detail are the unit processes, operations, economic aspects and R&D prospects. Previous innovations on the flash technology and the current tend of research in the extractive metallurgy indicate that better understanding of fundamentals will lead to even greater improvements. Enhanced cooperation among different fields will be necessary to achieve this.
