Abstract
The vaporization mechanism of 8CaO·6Al2O3·2CrO3 was studied in 1 atm of H2 and H2-H2O atmospheres over the temperature range of 600 to 1,320 ℃.
It was found that the weight loss of 8CaO·6Al2O3·2CrO3 is attributed to the reduction of CrO3 and the vaporization rate is controlled by diffusion of oxygen through the stable surface layer composed of CaO·Al2O3, CaO·Cr2O3, and CaO which is formed on the sample surface due to the incongruent vaporization of 8CaO·6Al2O3· 2CrO3.
It was observed that the increase of water vapor pressure in the H2-H2O atmosphere enhances the vaporization rate of 8CaO·6Al2O3·2CrO3.
