Abstract

X- 및 Y-제올라이트를 K+ 및 Ba++로 이온교환하여 크실렌 이성체들의 선택적 흡착성질을 파과곡선의 측정을 통하여 조사하였다. 그중 KY-제올라이트가 p-크실렌에 대한 선택성이 가장 좋았는데, 이는 KY-제올라이트의 산성도가 감소되었기 때문으로 보인다. 또한 흡착온도, 수분함량들의 선택도에 미치는 영향도 함께 검토되었다. KY-제올라이트에 대한 흡착 평형 상수는 p-크실렌이 가장 크게 나왔고 흡착열은 같은 크기범위임이 측정되었다.
Selective adsorption of xylene isomers was investigated by measuring the breakthrough curves of the X- and Y-zeolites ion-exchanged with K+ and Ba++. KY-zeolite showed the best sorption selectivity for p-xylene due to its reduced acidity. Also the effects of adsorption temperature and moisture contents on the selectivity were discussed. The adsorption equilibrium constant of p-xylene was the largest and the heats of adsorption for each xylene isomer were estimated to be roughly the same.
