Abstract
Hydrogen chemisorption and two reactions with different mechanisms were carried out to investigate the effects of SMSI(Strong Metal-Support Interaction) in platinum catalysts supported on titania, γ-alumina, and silica.
From the experimental results, we can suggest the mechanism of SMSI with two controlling steps, a suppression of adsorption and a weakening effect of bond strength in adsorbate. The mechanism is based on the reduction of supports resulting in a flow of electrons from the reduced supports to the platinum.
