Abstract

오르토-페닐렌디아민과 각종 지방족알데히드는 에탄올 용액에서 촉매량의 로듐착물, [RhCl(NBD)]2, 180 ℃ 4시간 동안 반응하면 높은 수득률로 대응하는 1-알킬 및 1,2-디알킬 치환벤즈이미다졸을 준다. 이리하여 1-메틸-, 1-에틸-2-메틸-, 1-프로필-2-에틸-, 1-부틸-2-프로필-, 및 1-펜틸-2-부틸벤즈 이미다졸 유도체는 오르토-페닐렌디아민과 메탄알, 에탄알, 프로판알, 부탄알 및 펜탄알로부터 쉽게 얻을 수 있었다.
O-Phenylenediamine reacts with aliphatic aldehydes in the presence of a catalytic amount of a rhodium complex, [RhCl(NBD)]2, in ethyl alcohol solution at 180 ℃ for 4 hr to give the corresponding 1-alky-and 1,2-dialky-substituted benzimidazoles in good yields. Thus, 1-methyl-, 1-ethyl-2-methyl-, 1-propyl-2-ethyl-, 1-butyl-2-propyl-, 1-pentyl-2-butylbenzimidazole derivatives are readily obtained from o-phenylenediamine and methanal, ethanal, propanal, butanal, or pentanal respectively.
