Abstract

석탄 타르 핏치를 용매 추출 또는 400 ℃, 430 ℃에서 열처리하여 생성시킨 메조페이스 핏치의 조직 및 물성의 변화를 조사하였다.
각 온도에서 열처리 시간이 증가함에 따라 메조페이스의 함량과 C/H비는 증가하였으며, 430 ℃에서 5시간 열처리한 경우 92 %의 메조페이스가 생성되었으나, coarse mosaic 형태를 보였다.
원료 핏치의 용매 추출 결과 mosaic 형태의 메조페이스를 형성하는 약 51 %의 asphaltene과 bulk 메조페이스를 형성하는 약 13 %의 pre-asphaltene을 얻을 수 있었으며, 이 두 부분을 혼합하면 pre-asphaltene이 dominant partner 역할을 하여 asphaltene도 bulk mesophase로 전환되었다.
The texture and properties of carbonaceous mesophase pitch formed from coal tar pitch by treating it at 400 ℃ and 430 ℃ for different times have been studied, using optical microscope with polarized light and measuring mesophase content, volatile matter content, C/H ratio, interlayer spacing (d002) and crystalline size (Lc).
The mesophase content and C/H ratio were found to increase with residence time. Heat treatment at 430 ℃ for 5 hours resulted in a coarse mosaic type mesophase, the content of which was 92 %.
About 51 % of asphaltene and 13 % of pre-asphaltene, having mosaic type and bulk type texture, respectively, have been obtained by solvent extraction. However, by mixing the two fractions, the asphaltene was transformed into the bulk mesophase type because of the dominant partner effect of the pre-asphaltene fraction.
