Abstract
물에 대하여 극히 우수한 선택적 투과율을 보이는 pervaporation 분리막을 소개하였다. 에탄올 농도 90wt% 이상의 에탄올-물 혼합물 분리에 있어서 이 분리막의 분리계수는 50이상이었고, 투과액 투과속도는 0-0.4l/hrㆍm2 이었다. 이 막을 이용한 pervaporation 공정으로 93wt% 에탄올 수용액으로부터 360kg/hr의 무수 에탄올을 생산하기 위해서 필요로 하는 분리막 표면적은 163㎡, 이때의 투과액의 에탄올 평균 농도는 13.5wt%로 산출되었다. 이 pervaporation 공정과 벤젠 추출 공비 증류 공정의 에너지 비용을 비교하였다. 그 결과, pervaporation 공정의 에너지 비용이 벤젠 추출 공정의 1/5정도에 불과함을 확인할 수 있었다.
A PVA pervaporation membrane, which has preferential selectivity for water, was introduced. For the separation of ethanol-water mixtures above 90wt% of ethanol, the membrane exhibited selectivity above 50 and per-meability of 0-0.4l/hrㆍm2. The membrane surface area required for the production of 360kg/hr absolute ethanol from 93wt% ethanol-water mixture by the pervaporation process using the membrane was estimated as 163m2. In this case, the average ethanol concentration was calculated as 13.5wt%. The energy cost of pervaporation process was compared with that of azeotropic distillation process using benzene as an entrainer. As a result, it is confirmed that the ebergy cost of pervaporation process is merely 1/5 of that of azeotropic distillation process.
