Abstract

The vapor phase synthesis of acrylic acid from oxidation of acrolein was studied using Mo-V-Cu multicomponent mixed oxide catalysts. The effects of promoter, composition of active species and synergis-tic effect of mechanical mixture catalysts were investigated. The active phase for the formation of acrylic acid was vanadium molybdate with the composition of MoV2O8 and /or Mo6V9O40. Copper promoter increased conversion and yield of acrylic acid, but excess amount of copper on the surface decreased the yield of acrylic acid.
