Abstract
In the separation of a mixture of benzene and cyclohexane by liquid surfactant membrane, investigated was the effect of surfactants and their concentration of the permeability, separation factor and membrane stability for different contact temperatures. In the case of anionic surfactants the fraction of permeation increased as their concentration and contact temperature increased, however, no consistent trend was observed in the case of nonionic surfactants. Higher permeability and separability were achieved with anionic surfactants than with nonionic ones. For all the surfactants used percentage of membrane breakup increase as the contact temperature increased.
