Abstract

The effects of reaction temperature(1,200-1,500℃), oxygen/coal ratio(0.3-1.5), slurry concentration(50, 55, 58wt%), and coal type on gasification characteristics of coal-slurry in a drop tube reactor(0.05m-I.D.×1m-high) have been determined. The contents of H2 and CO increase whereas, CO2 decrease with increasing reaction temperature. Carbon conversion, sulfur conversion, product gas yield and concentrations of CO2 increase with increasing O2/coal ratio whereas, the product gas yield of H2 and CO exhibit the maximum values at O2/coal=0.6. With increasing slurry concentration, carbon conversion, sulfur conversion, total product gas yield increase, but the molar ratio of H2/CO decrease. The longer residence time is required to gasify the higher rank coals.
