Abstract

Zinc and iron-based sorbents were considered as prime candidate sorbents to remove H2S in coal-derived gas. The performance of sorbents was tested at temperature range of 400-700℃ in a fixed-bed reactor using the simulated coal gas. Then, the effective product-layer diffusion coefficient, De was estimated from the best-fittings of the experimental breakthrough curves and simulated breakthrough curves by the grain model and unreacted core model, respectively. These two models showed that the predicted and experimental breakthrough curves were in good agreement. Apparent activation energies and frequency factors were obtained for the product-layer diffusion coefficient of various sorbents by plotting in Arrhenius form.
