Abstract
A method which employs the hot wire cell, but is independent of radiation, was mathematically derived by heating the wire with a sinusoidal alternating current superimposed upon 3 direct current. The operating conditions, under which the radiation introduces no appreciable error, were discussed as well as the inherent limitations of the method. Optimun cell design and operating conditions were suggested.
