Oxygen-Nitrogen Separation Characteristics of Poly(dimethylsiloxane)-Polysulfone Thin Film Composite Membranes

Abstract

산소부화용 고분자 복합 박막을 제조하였다. 코팅물질로는 Poly(dimethylsiloxane)이 사용되었고 다공성 지지체로는 polysulfone막이 이용되었다. 코팅층의 두께는 4-6μm였으며 polysulfone다공성 지지막의 두께는 약 60μm였다. 공기 및 산소와 질소의 투과도는 압력차(Pd)가 증가함에 따라 선형적으로 증가하였지만 선택성은 압력차에 큰 영향을 받지 않았다. 공기분리에 대한 조업변수들(압력비와 cut)의 영향을 여러 가지 조성의 산소와 질소의 혼합기체에 대해서 조사하였다. 산소부화의 정도는 압력비와 cut이 감소함에 따라 증가하였다. 압력비가 0.171이고 cut의 값이 0.01인 조건으로 ideal separation factor(α*)의 값이 2.03인 복합박막에 산소의 농도가 21 %인 공기를 투과시켰을 때 산소의 농도가 28 % 정도로 부화된 공기를 얻을 수 있었으며 이때 복합박막의 산소에 대한 투과도는 1.1×10-4[cm3(STP)/cm2·sec·cmHg]이었다.
Thin film composite (TFC) membranes for the oxygen enrichment were prepared. Poly(dimethylsiloxane) was used as a coating material and polysulfone was utilized for a porous support membrane. The thickness of the coated layer was 4-6μm and that of the porous polysulfone support membrane was about 60μm. The permeabilities of oxygen, air and nitrogen increased linearly with the increase in the pressure difference (Pd) but the selectivity was independent of the pressure difference. The effects of the operating parameters (pressure ratio Pr and cut θ) on the air separation were investigated for the different mixtures of oxygen and nitrogen as the feed stream. The extent of the oxygen enrichment increased with the decrease of the pressure ratio and cut. Oxygen was enriched upto 28 % in the permeate stream under the condition such that the values of pressure ratio, cut and oxygen mole fraction in the feed stream were 0.171, 0.01 and 0.21 respectively. The ideal separation factor (α*) of this TFC membrane was 2.03 and the permeability of oxygen was 1.1×10-4[cm3(STP)/cm3·sec·cmHg].
