Abstract

Concentrations at membrane surface were predicted from ultrafiltration experiments of dextran 500T solution in a flat plate. From this results, considering the change of physical properties in boundary layer, modified Sherwood number correlation was introduced. This correlation reduced the errors for opera-tion pressure difference variation. The modified Sherwood number correlation equations are as follows:_x000D_ NSh=0.073ㆍNRe0.061ㆍNSc0.33ㆍ[NSc/NScm]-0.25 (osmotic pressure model)_x000D_ NSh=0.045ㆍNRe0.067ㆍNSc0.33ㆍ[NSc/NScm]-0.20 (boundary layer resistance model)
